Elegant and fresh, with subtle woody notes and lyrical inflections of nectarine, osmanthus, and honey, the sophisticated structure of this organic Song Zhong dan cong wu long resonates on the palate, lingering through successive infusions, producing a gentle warming effect in the throat. This is a wonderfully rare and refined Song Zhong. The leaves are harvested by hand in April, sun dried, left to rest, shaken and this process is repeated six times.

Elegant and fresh, with subtle woody notes and lyrical inflections of nectarine, osmanthus, and honey, the sophisticated structure of this organic Song Zhong dan cong wu long resonates on the palate, lingering through successive infusions, producing a gentle warming effect in the throat. This is a wonderfully rare and refined Song Zhong.

The leaves are harvested by hand in April, sun dried, left to rest, shaken and this process is repeated six times. Then they are stir-fried, upon which then they are twisted and kneaded, re-fermented twice, and fired twice. Finally the leaves are oxidized to 30% and roasted repeatedly until the sweet, honey and floral aroma is brought forth. It is known as “Nong Xiang” style. The floral, fruity, and deeply aromatic character of these teas makes them highly desirable. 

We source this tea from a small, self-owned garden in Guangdong, China an area famous for it’s spectacular Feng Huang Dan Cong (Phoenix) oolong. Their estate is organic, and visited by wild elephants on occasion, which only adds to the allure. 

Infuse Song Zhong multiple times to enjoy the full expression of its leaves.

    • brewing

      • 2 tsp per 8oz/250ml of water
      • 185ºF/85ºC  (Bring fresh, cold spring water to a boil. Remove from heat, set aside 3 minutes, and proceed.) 
      • Brew 4-6 minutes
      • Good for 2 infusions
